  2. Mr. Joseph Smith
    Mr. Joseph Smith
My wife and I founded Ruby Dee Dobermans in 1996 in Oakland, CA when our first Champion Doberman Pinscher, our beloved "Ruby Dee," CH Del Mar's Heat of The Night WAC had her first litter. We went on to produce three generations of Top 20 Conformation Dobermans. One of Ruby Dee's puppies, "Jewel," BISS CH Ruby Dee's Love At Large grew up to become our first Top 20 Doberman and an AOM twice at DPCA Nationals. Jewel's daughter, "The Red Raven," BISS AM/CAN CH Ruby Dee's Vosne-Romanee RA, ROM, CGC was our second Top 20 Doberman, a BOS at Westminster and the DPCA National. Ruby Dee's great granddaughter "Simone," BISS CH Ruby Dee's Bolivar ROM, SchH I finished her championship at 12 months of age and the next month went on to win the Grand Prize Futurity award at the 2007 Doberman Pinscher National Show. With limited showing, Simone finished at #14 in the DPCA Top 20 standings for 2008/09, made the AKC Top 20 for 2008, and was a multi-Specialty and Group winner. Subsequently, she earned her WAC, BH, ROM, and Schutzhund I titles. Simone's litter mate Ruby Dee's Cohiba lived in our home and I trained him in obedience, conformation and Schutzhund. I lost him to cancer this past Easter Sunday. I am currently a member of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, the Doberman Pinscher Club of Reno, and the American Dog Show Judges. I have loved dogs all of my life. My first AKC pedigree dog was a German Shepherd named "Nemo." A great companion and loyal protector. I trained him in obedience with ease. My next dog was "Bishop," my first introduction to Doberman Pinschers and the dog show world. The smartest dog I have ever owned. He was a pet. I bought him as a pet, but was later told he was a show dog. I showed him myself and got beat every time and didn't know why. That inspired me to study the breed standard. At that time, my good friend would talk to me every day about the breed and the standard of the breed. I have studied all of the working breeds and now judge five of them. I love and enjoy judging dogs, it is my passion and I always do it to the best of my ability. It's not personal--I don't care who you are, how much money you've got, where you are from, who your mother or father is, do you hate me or love me--only the dog closest to the standard wins in my ring.
  3. Ms Sandy Wheat
    Ms Sandy Wheat
With 29 years of experience, Sandy Wheat started her judging career with one of the harder-to-judge breeds, the Pekingese. She attributed being able to take on the breed as a judge to her deep understanding of AKC. Currently she judges three groups, Toy, Non-Sporting and Herding; eight Working breeds and two Terrier breeds. She has also served as an international judge. Even though she has been judging for almost three decades, she still enjoys meeting new and experienced fanciers as well as the touch and feel of beautiful show dogs.
